Enough food, but more importantly nutritious balanced diets and food free of dangerous chemicals allows people to flourish. We should be more ambitious and bolder in our search for food production systems that allow people to thrive, not just survive!

We are an ambitious agri-tech company that offers aquaponics systems connected to the internet. But we also understand technology does not get us there all the way. So when you buy a system from us, we will continue to follow-up for routine maintenance and training. This way you enjoy your fish and see your plants grow, while we will keep an eye on things for you.

Urban Greens Ltd was established with the belief that we can make this world a better place through more sustainable and healthier sources of food. We can transform urban landscapes and make them more pleasant to live in, while cutting green house gasses. At the same time we can create more food security, offer healthier, more nutritious food and generate jobs.

Back-yard aquaponics has the potential to do all this. Aquaponics is a closed loop system in which fish and plants are combined to efficiently grow both. The ammonia in the waste water of the fish is broken down by bacteria to plant food. After it is absorbed by the plants, the water is fed back to the fish tank. The only input required is fish food and minor additions of micro nutrients, making it all 100% organic and very efficient. Although traditionally aquaponics is practiced in large farms or by enthusiastic hobby gardeners, we make it available to a larger audience of urban growers.

Urban Greens has developed a standardised aquaponics setup including power back-up with solar PV and remote monitoring and control. Because of the standardization, systems can be prepared off-site and quickly installed.
